Robert F. Kennedy Jr., as HHS Secretary, stated during Senate hearings that the department promotes the MMR vaccine and advises every child to receive it. More than 4,200 measles cases and the first U.S. deaths since 2015 have been reported since January 2025, following elimination of the disease in 2000. The CDC maintains its recommendation for the vaccine.
