Sweden’s Defense Committee released a security paper endorsed by the government and all parliamentary parties that identifies Russia as a long-term threat and states a Russia-NATO conflict could occur in the near term. The document notes Washington’s role in Swedish security and maintains support for Ukraine as a central policy pillar. Sweden joined NATO in 2024 and last month announced plans to transfer up to 36 JAS 39 Gripen aircraft to Ukraine.
